Auftrag: Masterplan for a museum and culture centre; museological preparation of an architecture competition
Auftraggeber: State enterprise "Mystetskyj Arsenal" of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine, Kiew
Team: Dieter Bogner, Martina Zerovnik
Zeitraum: 2006-2008
bogner.cc has developed a master plan for the former Kiewer Arsenal, a 25,000 sq m building located in an area measuring 10 ha and dating from the early 19th century. An exciting user mix should provide the basis for a lively and dynamic cultural venue. On the ground floor: visitor centre, exhibition displaying the cultural highlights of the Ukraine, art hall for large-scale international exhibitions, children’s museum, auditorium, event space, restaurant, commercial infrastructure, open air activities in the courtyard, etc. On the first floor: top-quality exhibition space for museum collections, in connection with new buildings for administration, delivery service, and a national restoration centre.
Based on the master plan, an international architecture competition was held for development of the site, comprising a museum of modern and contemporary art, concert hall, conference hotel and recreational areas. bogner.cc elaborated the museological foundations in cooperation with phase 1, and Dieter Bogner advised the jury as an expert.
First prize went to the Japanese architectural firm Arata Isozaki & Associates, Tokyo.
