Auftrag: Mission statement, spatial and functional programme, presentation of the collections
Auftraggeber: Landesmuseum Joanneum GmbH, Graz
Team: Dieter Bogner, Martina Zerovnik, Esra Wedam
Jahr: 2004+
Eröffnung: Spring 2013
Status: Under implementation
Based on the master plan developed by bogner.cc in 1997 for the Styrian Provincial Museum Joanneum, a detailed curatorial concept for the new presentation of the natural history collections was worked out in close collaboration with museum department experts in 2001. The natural history collections are housed in the museum’s original building located on Raubergasse. The new presentation presents an overall view with themes drawing on items from the four departments: geology/palaeontology, mineralogy, botany and zoology.
The concept will be reactivated and brought up to date in connection with plans for an enlargement of the “Museum quadrant” in Graz – the erection of an underground storage area, visitor centre, and unified entrance area for the buildings on Raubergasse and Neutorgasse. Conversion works started in january 2010 and will be completed by 2013.
