Hessian State Museum, Kassel (D)
Kategorie: Reorganisation of the collections
Auftrag: Detailed concept for reorganisation of the collection holdings
Auftraggeber: Museumslandschaft Hessen Kassel (mhk)
Team: Dieter Bogner, Ingrid Holzschuh
Zeitraum: 2007+
The reorganisation of the museum collections of the State Museum in Kassel is one of the key elements in the further development of the museological expertise (“Kassel’s museum landscape”) drawn up by bogner.cc in 2004/05. The detailed concept is being elaborated in close cooperation with the museum team. The “narrative” developed by bogner.cc is based on a themed concept and not a plain exhibition of a collection. Three major topics – prehistoric settlement, cultural area and space of history, and the North Hessian economic area – are examined on three floors of the exhibition. Cultural area and space of history deals with such questions as identity, territory, social history of Hessian towns, questions of faith, economic promotion in the Age of Absolutism, citizen’s movements, and a historical review of the twentieth century up to the reunification.
