The city of Kassel is planning to enlarge and modernise the local museum, combined with a reorganisation of the collection. The first step was a two-stage architecture competition. In order to formulate the competition, bogner.cc refined the museum concept furnished by the museum in April 2008, elaborating the museological requirements regarding planning of architecture and equipment, and drawing up a spatial and functional programme on this basis. This plan is based on the “Kassel municipal museums master plan” drawn up by HHS Planer+Architekten AG (August 2008).
The jury decided for the project submitted by “Hufnagel Pütz Rafaelin” architects, Berlin.
